Paradox

God is not the root of contradiction, but God is the simplicity itself prior to every root.  Nicholas of Cusa

In the Way of search for God everything is upside down.  Rumi

The place wherein Thou art found unveiled is girt round with the coincidence of contradictions, and this is the wall of Paradise wherein Thou dost abide. The door whereof is guarded by the most proud spirit of Reason, and, unless he be vanquished, the way in will not lie open.  Nicholas of Cusa

He is all contradictions.  Vivekananda

That thou mayest have pleasure in everything, seek pleasure in nothing That thou mayest know everything, seek to know nothing. That thou mayest possess all things, seek to possess nothing.  St. John of the Cross

All glorification of me cometh short of the measure, as doth all contempt.  Al-Alawi

God is the absolute maximum and also the absolute minimum who can be neither greater nor less than He is.  Nicholas of Cusa

I observe how needful it is for me to enter into the darkness and to admit the coincidence of the opposites, beyond all grasp of reason, and there to seek the Truth, where impossibility meets us.  Nicholas of Cusa

God is a not God.  Meister Eckhart

Realization is getting rid of the delusion that you haven't realized.  Ramana Maharshi

Everyone must have two pockets, so that he can reach into the one or the other, according to his needs. In his right pocket are to be the words 'For my sake was the world created,' and in his left, 'I am duist and ashes'.  Rabbi Bunum of Pzhysha

Its formless Nature produces all forms, and in It alone Not-being is an excess of Being, and lifelessness an excess of life and Its mindless state an excess of wisdom.  Dionysius the Areopagite

I gain nothing from seeing Who I am, yet I gain everything. This seeing is not to be practised, yet it requires lifelong vigilance and dedication. It's no task at all, yet the hardest of tasks. There's Nothing to do, yet all to do. It's the very end, yet the beginning of the Way.  D.E. Harding

Where there's no muscle I initiate action, no eyes I see, no ears I hear, no tongue I taste, no nose I smell, no brain I think, no consciousness I'm aware.  D.E. Harding

Look, it cannot be seen -- it is beyond form.
Listen, it cannot be heard -- it is beyond sound.
Grasp, it cannot be held -- it is intangible.
These three are indefinable;
Therefore they are joined in one.  Lao-tzu

Therefore, the sage harmonizes right with wrong and rests in the balance of nature. This is called taking both sides at once.  Chuang-tzu

Every creature denies it is the other. But God is the denier of denials.  Meister Eckhart

God is not seen except by blindness, nor known except by ignorance, nor understood except by fools.  Meister Eckhart

In God's sight we do not fall; in our sight we do not stand. As I see it both of these are true. But the deeper insight belongs to God.  Julian of Norwich
