Dhiravamsa (1934 - )

Born in north east Thailand Dhiravamsa became a samanera at the age of 13 and a fully-ordained bhikkhu at 21. He first came to the West in 1964. He became assistant abbot at the Thai Temple in London. He has since taught widely around the world, later on leaving the monkhood so that he could teach more freely, integrating vipassana meditation with Western forms of healing. He now lives in Gran Canaria, and continues to lead retreats. He has written many books.
